Bridget Etheridge was born and raised in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. She attended Pasquotank County Schools and graduated from Pasquotank County High in 2011. Bridget is the youngest of three children. Both of her parents work in the legal field which prompted her interest in the judicial system.
Bridget hopes to obtain her associates degree in Office Administration. Bridget has also worked with The DUI Counseling Center as an administrative assistant. She is currently a licensed cosmetologist but wishes to further her administrative assistant career.
L. CHANTEL CHERRY
L. Chantel Cherry, M.P.A. - Legal Intern
L. Chantel Cherry was born in Elizabeth City, NC. She spent her early education years in Perquimans County Schools. She relocated to Elizabeth City, NC for her middle and high school years. After graduating from Northeastern High School, she furthered her education by enrolling in Elizabeth City State University. Chantel obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. She is also an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
She went on to pursue her Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA) from Strayer University while working full time as a Child Support Enforcement Agent. After being employed as a Child Support agent for eight years Chantel decided to change career paths in hopes of utilizing her MPA. She began working for Elizabeth City State University in 2013 in the accounting office. Chantel worked in the travel section of the accounting office for two years before being accepted into Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Florida.
While at Florida Coastal, Chantel received a merit scholarship. She is also a member of the Black Law Students Association (BLSA), Student Bar Association, Mock Trial Team, Moot Court Honor Board, Student Ambassadors, and the Gospel Choir.
Chantel is also interning with the Public Defender’s office in Portsmouth, VA. She hopes to return to the Northeastern North Carolina and Southeastern Virginia areas to practice law upon graduation.
Gabrielle (Gabby) Lassiter grew up in Graham, North Carolina. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and minors in Political Science and Women’s and Gender Studies. She interned her senior year with the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. While at NCSU, she was a member of the cheerleading squad and featured on American Cheerleader Magazine. She worked two years in a real estate law firm and as a nanny while completing her degree.
Following graduation, Gabby married her “college sweetheart”, Belvidere native Joshua Lassiter (current Vice Chancellor of Business and Finance at Elizabeth City State University). She worked as a legal assistant and paralegal at Tharrington Smith, LLP downtown Raleigh. Her work primarily involved defending local boards of education. During this time, Gabby completed a Graduate Certificate in Counselor Education from NCSU.
Gabby and her husband moved to Hertford, N.C. where she worked for the American Cancer Society then most recently as a college access advisor for Perquimans County Schools. After the birth of her second daughter, Gabby decided she would spend more of her time at home by working part-time. While staying home with daughters Scarlett and Zadie, Gabby completed the Personal Injury Law for Paralegals course offered by NCSU.
Outside of work, Gabby has a passion for health and fitness. Her family attends Forest Park Church in Elizabeth City.
