My name is Johnnie Finch. I am a North Carolina criminal defense attorney. I represent people who have been charged with criminal offenses, such as Driving while Impaired, probation violations, and drug offenses.
I went to law school because I enjoy advocating for others. My first experience with the criminal justice system came from watching the famous criminal defense attorney, Johnnie Cochran, match wits with Marcia Clark in the OJ Simpson trial. His confidence, knowledge of the law, and charisma were inspiring. Flash forward 17 years, and I’ve traded my Nikes Airs for some hard-bottom lace-ups and a briefcase.
After college, I had the opportunity to counsel teens who had been charged with both juvenile and adult criminal offenses. Working for the NC Department of Juvenile Justice for seven years, I realized my passion for working with everyday people with REAL PROBLEMS, such as being fired from a job, revoked driver's license, or high school bullying. I choose to fight in this arena, as oppose to handling big corporation issues.
After being admitted to North Carolina Bar in 2013, I have exclusively practiced in the area of criminal defense. During this time I’ve effectively handled hundreds of traffic and criminal law matters by taking an assertive approach. My strategy is simple. We get results by taking a stand for our client's issues, despite the interest of the state. Zealous representation. Since opening The Law Office of Johnnie L. Finch Jr., PLLC, in January of 2016, we have expanded our practice to handle Automobile Injury, Catastrophic Injury, and Wrongful Death matters, just as my hero, Attorney Cochran ventured.
My practice area extends primarily throughout NC’s District 1 (Perquimans, Pasquotank, Dare, Gates, Chowan, Currituck, Camden) and surrounding counties (Tyrrell, Hertford, and Bertie Counties).
On a personal note, I married the love of my life, Meron, April 11, 2015. We met on the campus of Regent University while she was getting her M. Div in Theology and a Masters in Counseling. She is incredible, and I love her to life. Our son, Johnnie III, also known as John John was born on March 8, 2016.
I embrace all opportunities to give encouraging talks with youth and adults covering various topics, such as cyber bullying, crimes related to social networking, and law school advice. My most recent speaking engagement was with the Elizabeth City State University Criminal Justice Club and the topic was “Surviving Life after the Big Walk across the Stage.”
